Another great entry and a local’s favourite, Harry’s Bar, located on Pier Road, serves tapas-style plates of food with international flavours. Steering away from the majority of fish and chips spots found in town, Harrys excels at whipping up cosmopolitan dishes.
The place has charmed locals and visitors alike with its friendly service, its scrumptious dishes as well as its dining room, which allows for incredible views of the harbour.
Perfect for lunch, dinner and evening drinks, Harrys features an interesting menu where moules marinières mingle with Thai green fish curry and Moroccan lamb meatballs, a real treat for all senses.
And even if you pop by for a drink, the cocktails, freshly prepared by expert bartenders, will have you going for seconds in a minute. To put it simply, you will be coming back for more.

The Star Inn The Harbour
For a truly unique dining experience, I highly recommend you visit the Star Inn The Harbour. The latest brainchild of Michelin-starred chef Andrew Pern, this recent addition to the Whitby dining scene specialises in freshly caught fish and meat specials, as well as seasonal produce from North Yorkshire Moors in a true celebration of “all things local”.
The world-class surf’n’turf dishes on the menu will take you to a world of refined flavours, but the cherry on top of the cake is undeniably the near-panoramic views of the harbour.
A last word of advice, try to save some space for dessert.

Duke of York
If you gravitate towards a more traditional dining experience, then the Duke of York is your go-to. This old-fashioned pub decorated in a mariner style offers fantastic views over the harbour so you can enjoy a delicious meal or a drink watching the boats coming in and out of it.
As far as the menu is concerned, here you will find the usual suspects, such as hot meals, salads and filled baguettes, as well as daily specials jotted down on the blackboards located all over the pub. All you have to do once you’ve made your decision is order at the bar, grab your cutlery and sit down. Your order will be brought to your table. If you simply feel like having a drink, the Duke has a wide range of beers and spirits, which you can enjoy while taking the views in.
