There are a number of hotels in Sandsend which make an ideal base when visiting the Yorkshire Coast.
Sandsend is located just three miles from Whitby on the North Yorkshire coast. It is a small, yet full of charm, fishing village on the edge of the North York Moors National Park and part of the Cleveland Way Walk.
Originally Sandsend was a lot smaller but as cottages were built for workers locally, it ended up joining onto the village of East row and becoming just one village. For entertainment there is an art gallery, surf school, restaurants, cafes and pubs. Down on the sandy beach you will find rock pools, and perhaps even some fossils!
For a small village there are certainly plenty of places to stay nearby. These include some gorgeous hotels in Sandsend which are sure to make your holiday even more special.
The Raithwaite Estate is a fabulous coastal resort that includes two hotels, cottages, a lake house and spa. There really is accommodation to suit everyone here. From relaxing breaks to a couples retreat with pets, Raithwaite Estate has it all.
Set in over one hundred acres of ground you can choose from The Hall with its forty five bedrooms or The Keep with Twenty eight. Fancy something a little less formal and there are eight stone built cottages and a six bedroomed house.
The Hall – Set overlooking the gardens, The Hall is the largest of the two hotels onsite. Rooms available include standard, king size, super king size, queen size, and family suites. This hotel also includes The Courtyard to the front of the hotel which overlooks the woods and stream. Rooms here are set over two floors and you have the option of queen or king size beds.
The Keep – The Keep is a contemporary hotel set apart from The Hall and overlooking the woodland on the estate. Many rooms here are suitable for the disabled and also pet friendly. They are available in either a king size or super king size option. Some of the rooms in The Keep have interconnecting door should you need that type of access.
Cottages and Lake house – Whilst the cottages and lake house are not hotels in Sandsend, Whitby, they are a part of this estate and worth mentioning. Both come with everything you could need for your holiday and more. If you don’t want to cook for yourselves in the lake house a private chef and waiting staff can be arranged. If you stay in the cottages you have full access to the dining experiences at the hotels.
Dining at Raithwaite Estate comes with several options. You can formally dine in their brasserie which serves french classics with a Yorkshire twist or relax a little more in The Hunters Lounge. There is also a bar that serves light lunches, afternoon tea and signature cocktails. The perfect way to relax after a day out or a day in at the spa.
Should you choose to use the spa it is located within the main hotel, The Hall. There they have four treatment rooms, a heated pool, jacuzzi, steam room, sauna and gym. Pampering packages are available from around £70.
