We have picked 7 North York Moors waterfalls for you to visit on your next trip.

There is something so satisfying about walking and finding a waterfall. They are so beautiful and peaceful to watch. Stop for a picnic and enjoy some time together in nature by visiting one of our favourite waterfalls in the North York Moors National Park.

1. Hayburn Wyke

Hayburn Wyke Waterfall In The North York Moors

Hayburn Wyke is located between Scarborough and Whitby, this perfect secluded cove is great for a family day trip. The location has both woodland and a beach for you to explore. Hayburn Wyke waterfall falls right onto the pebble beach below which is a perfect photo opportunity. We love to spend the day here paddling in the river and enjoying time outdoors together. It’s full of different coloured pebbles and rocks which children love to collect. If you love to spot wildlife the surrounding woodland here has an abundance of peaceful walks where you can try to spot roe deer, badgers and foxes as they are all commonly found in the area.

2. Thomason Foss

Thomason Foss is a popular waterfall in The North York Moors.

In the centre of the North York Moors and south of the North York Moors Heritage Railway, between Goathland and Beck Hole is Thomason Foss. Further up the river, you can find Upper Thomason Foss, which is equally spectacular to witness. The setting is wonderful here and it is one of the easiest waterfalls to reach in the North York Moors National Park, the walk here is easy going. It takes us around 20 minutes to get to the fall as reasonably fit people.

Forming part of the River Leven is the Kildale Falls or Old Meggison as it is also known. It’s situated just outside of Kildale Village. Great to visit after heavy rain and it’s best with a good flow. This North York Moors waterfall has a drop of 0.03 kilometres and it’s a beautiful sight!

4. Falling Foss

Falling Foss Waterfall

Falling Foss has to be one of our favourite waterfalls to visit. It lies deep in Little Beck Wood. This impressive waterfall boasts a 30 feet drop, it’s absolutely incredible after a rainy day. The walk to the waterfall leads through beautiful woodland on either side of the Little and May Becks. We highly recommend visiting in Autumn as the colours are so spectacular. You will also stumble across the Hermitage which has been carved from a massive boulder. This is a wonderful option for a day out, put your wellies on and get paddling in the river!

7. Blow Gill

Blow Gill Waterfall

You can find Blow Gill 2 miles from Hawnby at the roadside on the Osmotherley to Hawnby road. This is a very small waterfall that runs underneath the road. Don’t underestimate it though! It is so stunning in Autumn when colourful leaves are scattered over the area. A perfect place to take photos.
