Did you know the Firs Guesthouse at Runswick Bay has a fish restaurant and is collecting wonderful reviews? Here is more information about the Runswick Bay Catch.
The Runswick Bay Catch is the Firs Guesthouse’s fish restaurant, specialising in fresh fish and other cuisine. The menu boasts a range of dishes to suit everyone. So, whether you have special dietary requirements or prefer certain ingredients over others, they are happy to customise your meal to suit your needs.
They take pride in sourcing ingredients sustainably. The fresh fish comes from North East Seafoods in Redcar, which partners with the Marine Conservation Society to ensure all the fish is caught sustainably.
The menu changes frequently, depending on what is in season and available. They feature various dishes, including chicken and duck. The lamb, pork and beef is sourced from throughout the Yorkshire region, sourced by their trusted butcher, Rob Breckon, in Whitby.
Taylor’s of Pickering provides fruit and vegetables and during the summer, they also source soft fruits and salads from local growers in Yorkshire. Dales Dairy supplies Yorkshire milk and cream. And, of course, they use the award-winning Yorkshire cheese from Shepherd’s Purse!
They are proud to offer a variety of locally sourced beverages from Yorkshire. In addition to the food menu, they also have a selection of wine, beers, cider, and spirits brewed and bottled in the region. The wine comes from the award-winning Yorkshire Heart Vineyard near York, providing Liberty Larger, Hearty Bitter, and JRT Golden Best.
The gin selection includes Whitby Gin Original, Bramble of the Bay, and Old Tom, which Jessica Slater and Luke Pentith of Whitby Gin Distillery supply.
There are also several mixers and soft drinks available, sourced from Fentmans in Hexham to complement their beverages.
Monthly Pudding Knight
They are excited to announce a monthly Pudding Knight event at The Firs Guesthouse on-site restaurant, The Runswick Bay Catch.
This event will run on the last Saturday of every month until October 2023.
Their next event is on Saturday, May 27th, and it promises to be a delicious night celebrating all things pudding! You can look forward to a Yorkshire Pudding starter, a light main course, and seven mouth-watering dessert puddings. You’ll have the opportunity to taste all seven, then eat as much as you like of your favourites.
Will you be crowned King or Queen of Puddings?
Certificates will also be awarded to the best pudding eater, who will be crowned King or Queen of Puddings of the night. To add to the fun, there will be a rolling scoreboard for the best pudding and eater, with the final tally taking place in October to declare the Emperor / Empress pudding eater and pudding.
