The Porthole Suite is a unique Bed & Breakfast with a difference.
Tucked into the hillside overlooking the beach, yet still in the heart of Sandsend, the Porthole is close to all the village has to offer with its restaurants, cafes and shops, whilst at the same time absolutely private with views that are without equal. Look through or step out of either of the French windows, and look directly along the beach towards Whitby Abbey, or out to sea where sometimes you can see seals or porpoises.
The Porthole accommodates two people (I am afraid it does not take children or pets), and has a minimum of a two night stay although many people stay for between three to six nights.
The decking walkway is your entrance to The Porthole but also a superb place to sit out on the antique cast iron furniture to enjoy a glass of wine whilst watching the sea and the beach, or go down to the garden for a different sea view and sit in the swing seat.
The Porthole has its own parking spot and own entrance. It comprises a large bedroom with a six foot bed and a separate sitting room with a squashy sofa and an easy chair. The bathroom has a kidney shaped bath with shower over, WC and wash basin, with under floor heating ensuring cosy toes even in winter!
The kitchenette contains all you need for a quick snack, or for breakfast which will be left for you to help yourself to at a time of your choosing. Breakfast includes toast, butter and home produced conserves, boiled eggs, yoghurts, cereals and muesli, a variety of teas & coffees and fresh fruit.
The Porthole is part of Sandsend Cottages which includes Craigmore, sleeping up to 7 people. Craigmore also offers stunning views along the beach and is ideal if there are more of you and you want a fully functioning self contained house that can accommodate up to three generations. There is a large kitchen dining room and two reception rooms so you do not get on top of each other. There are three bedrooms and three bath/shower rooms. There is also private parking for two cars at Craigmore.
Both The Porthole Suite and Craigmore are situated in the centre of Sandsend, yet because of their position just off a private lane are very private.
Sandsend itself is a seaside village just two miles north of Whitby. There is everything you need in Sandsend for a lovely holiday, a few shops, restaurants and cafes and a surf school. However you will probably wish to visit historic Whitby with all that has to offer, but will enjoy returning to your base in peaceful Sandsend!
