Briar Lea is located just a short drive from Robin Hood’s Bay, a wonderfully characterful place steeped in history; indeed, there are still many houses with trapdoors to tunnels beneath the village, a throw back to smuggling times. The North Yorkshire Moors National Park is close by, ideal for walkers and mountain bikers and the visitor centre at Danby is a good place to start. And of course, a visit to the area would not be complete without spending time in Whitby, a wonderful seaside town with bustling fishing harbour and a good selection of independent shops and eateries. If you are feeling energetic you can climb the famous 199 steps to the Abbey or just relax by the sea and take in the views.
