The story behind Paylor’s View
Paylor’s View is named after Thomas and Molly Paylor, the owners’ great-grandparents, who helped shape the building’s history. In the 1960s, they transformed Nos. 16 and 17 Church Street, once believed to have been an old brewery, into a fruit and vegetable wholesale business. They also created family accommodation above the shop.
The business still operates from the building today, continuing their legacy. The former living space has now been reimagined as this four-bedroom holiday cottage shaped by generations of hard work, family history and pride.
Parking
There is on-street parking available nearby. Availability may vary, especially during busy periods, so guests should allow extra time when arriving and confirm any specific parking guidance with the accommodation provider before travelling.
“For guests who love the idea of waking up close to the harbour, wandering into town, and coming back to a cosy cottage with plenty of space to relax, Paylor’s View Cottage is a lovely place to call home for a few days in Whitby.”
