Why not visit one of these fantastic local pubs on your visit to Saltburn?

Saltburn by the Sea has a rich and vibrant history that simply must be explored.

This town of a whisker under 6,000 inhabitants was founded after the discovery of iron minerals in the nearby Cleveland Hills with the investment of the Pease family and the construction of two railway lines to transport the minerals.

The original hamlet of Saltburn was settled around the row of houses and the Ship Inn, a mainstay for the local fishermen. A haven for smugglers, as much of the North East coast was, Saltburn was home to publican John Andrews – a notorious and devious character, known locally as ‘king of the smugglers’.
