‘Propagansey’

If you’re staying at one of these Robin Hoods Bay Holiday Cottages, then a visit to this unique event is a must. Propagansey is a unique exhibition of ganseys from around the UK and Holland. What is a gansey? There a close-fitting, usually seamless garment, frequently dark blue, often knitted in worsted wool on fine needles, traditionally worn by fishermen along much of the English & Scottish coastline, also Holland. Propagansey celebrates the history, tradition and stories behind these humble garments. This year’s event will run from September 8-16th, 2018 (venue yet to be announced but it will be in Robin Hood’s Bay).
