The Dolphin is an excellent choice if you want somewhere to stay and eat. With views of the beautiful harbour and in an unbeatable location, The Dolphin ticks many boxes, especially as they go out of their way to be dog friendly. A doggie box of treats is available, and the adult fare is just as good. Their traditional Sunday lunch is one of the best on offer in Whitby – and that is saying something!
2. Abbey Wharf

Seafood specials dominate the menu at the Abbey Wharf, where the friendly staff will be more than happy to ensure your dogs are well catered for. The Abbey Wharf's bar is exceptionally well stocked with an emphasis on world beers and spirits, although those who prefer real ales, wine or cocktails will also find a great selection. Fish is the day's catch at the Abbey Wharf, but they have sizzling steaks and vegetarian options such as paella and curry.
3. Humble Pie & Mash

A homely welcome is offered to dogs and humans at Humble Pie & Mash. With a menu that changes daily, you will want to visit again and again to check out everything this excellent little spot has to offer. It does get busy, though – which is a sign of the quality fare Humble Pie & Mash have up for grabs! – and space is limited, so pick your time to go carefully. If no tables are available, you can always take your pie away and eat it by the sea.
4. Mister Chips

Not far from Humble Pie & Mash is Mister Chips, where dogs are welcome, and fresh fish is the order of the day. You can choose whether to have your fish grilled, poached or pan-fried, with the choice of seafood on the menu as vast as anywhere that is dog-friendly in Whitby. Vegetarian options are available, and the restaurant is fully licensed, too, so you can have a beer or wine with your meal if a traditional cuppa does not take your fancy with your fish supper.
5. Monks Haven

Are you planning a trip up the 199 Steps? Fill up at dog-friendly Monks Haven first – you won't regret it! Portions are massive here, and the prices are great value, too, with their breakfasts arguably the best in Whitby. On Fridays and Saturdays, you can enjoy the convivial atmosphere at Monks Haven into the evening.
6. The Blitz

Something different is offered at the 1940s-themed licensed cafe, restaurant and cocktail bar, The Blitz, where dogs are invited to enter the wartime spirit and human visitors. Open all day, The Blitz serves breakfasts in the morning but turns into a tapas bar by night, with dishes such as spiced minced pork and beef stuffed empanadas on the menu. You can also get afternoon tea at The Blitz, while there are extensive gin and cocktail menus. Try out Sarah's Cafe Spice, which mixes Baileys with rum, a splash of espresso and a touch of gingerbread syrup. It's a taste sensation, but don't just take our word for it! 7. Albert's Eatery

Located at one of Whitby's top tourist attractions, the Museum of Whitby Jet, the superb surroundings of Albert's Eatery are often full of customers with their dogs. Booking is recommended at peak periods when staff will serve tasty treats such as crab omelette and moules mariniere on a seafood-heavy menu. Albert's is open for breakfast, too, so you can visit to kick off your day in Whitby on a high note.
8. The Pier Inn

Right in the heart of Whitby is The Pier Inn, a traditional local pub run by the Camerons brewery, which means there is a fantastic choice of real ales to try. Bowls of water are offered to dogs, and rooms are available at this classic pub too. There are few better spots for a pint on a sunny day than The Pier Inn due to its large outdoor sun terrace, where dogs and their owners can soak up the sun. Traditional pub grub is served from lunchtime at The Pier Inn, which overlooks the harbour.
