Planning a trip to Staithes? Here's are our favourite Staithes Holiday Cottages which make the ideal base for your trip.
Staithes began life as a fishing port on the North Sea Coast of Yorkshire, a working village that makes a lovely relaxing holiday break for anyone enjoying sea air with the North York Moors National Park on the doorstep. The beach, rock pools, the chance of finding fossils and paths along the cliff top all add to Staithes’ attraction. The original settlement was built in a sheltered cove below cliffs and with so much pleasant accommodation for rent, weekend and longer, you can forget any pressures in your daily life for a while.
There are a number of interesting walks; Boulby Cliffs are nearby and Cowbar Nab is a headland with a few houses forming a tiny village. The Cleveland Way up to Skinningrove passes the remains of former industry, the alum mines which employed anyone not involved in fishing. Today, birdwatchers delight in the seabirds nesting on the cliffs and after an active day, it is nice to know that those wanting to dine out have some choice in Staithes. Fish is certainly an excellent choice and it is available fresh from the sea if you prefer to self-cater.
