Staithes is a great place to enjoy a break. Perfect for anyone wanting to enjoy sea air with the North York Moors National Park on the doorstep. The beach, rock pools, the chance of finding fossils and paths along the clifftop all add to Staithes’ attraction. The original settlement was built in a sheltered cove below cliffs and with so much pleasant accommodation for rent, weekends and longer, you can forget any pressures in your daily life for a while.
There are a number of interesting walks; Boulby Cliffs are nearby and Cowbar Nab is a headland with a few houses forming a tiny village. The Cleveland Way up to Skinningrove passes the remains of former industry, the alum mines which employed anyone not involved in fishing. Today, birdwatchers delight in the seabirds nesting on the cliffs and after an active day, it is nice to know that those wanting to dine out have some choice in Staithes. Fish is certainly an excellent choice and it is available fresh from the sea if you prefer to self-cater.

1. Ravenscraig House
Situated in the heart of Staithes village with stunning views over Staithes Beck is the fantastic Ravenscraig House holiday cottage. A four-bedroom property that sleeps up to eight adults and two well-behaved dogs. This spacious pet-friendly holiday home has a fully equipped modern kitchen as you would expect from a luxury cottage, there are two bathrooms, one king ensuite, a double room, a twin room and cosy single rooms. The lounge and dining room offer flexible open plan living at its best.

2. Mulgrave Holiday Cottage in Staithes
Mulgrave Holiday Cottage in Staithes is one of two on the same site which can be booked together for larger groups, up to around 10 people. A very short walk out of Staithes in Dalehouse, they are located on a farm and have lovely views over the surrounding countryside.
The cottage was once part of the milking parlour of the farm, L-shaped open plan downstairs with kitchen and dining area and with the option of having a downstairs bedroom with wet room for disabled or less mobile and 2 bedrooms upstairs. There is ample off-road parking available.
3. Post Box Cottage
Post Box Cottage joins Mulgrave and when booked together, a large group can have up to six bedrooms with Post Box having two single bedrooms.
Children will love being amongst the farm animals that they will be able to see from these Staithes cottages. The walking and cycling trails from the Farm are a real joy with Staithes just a short walk away as well.
4. Old Joiners Shop
As the name suggests, Old Joiners Shop is a conversion, a lovely little Staithes holiday cottage which ideal for couples. It has an open plan ground floor with a fully equipped kitchen and comfortable seating area.
French windows lead to a relaxing stone terrace and lovely views. There is plenty of storage space and a sliding door leads to the bedroom and large walk-in shower.
5. Grimes Nook
Grimes Nook is a lower ground floor apartment converted from the store area of an old fisherman’s cottage. Above, there is a two-storey cottage incidentally.
It is open-plan with wood burning stove, beams and lovely stone walls. The double bedroom has a large shower room. There is a small patio outside with a bench for simply sitting to enjoy an early coffee before setting out for the day.
6. Grimes Holiday Cottage
This Grade II listed terrace cottage has excellent views from its elevated position over rooftops to the Harbour. It is an ideal accommodation for a small family.
There is a large sitting room with wood panels, beams and exposed stone. There is a dining area with a well-equipped kitchen and upstairs two bedrooms. You will find a small courtyard to the rear, entirely private.
7. Broomhill View
This 18th Century Grade II cottage was once home to fishermen. Its renovation has made it into lovely comfortable accommodation for today’s holidaymaker whilst losing none of its character.
The sitting room has wooden floors, beams and a lovely open fire in a cast iron surround. There are books, games and DVDs for guest use. The kitchen is well-equipped with a breakfast bar and a family bathroom leading off it.
There are two bedrooms upstairs, the double with views of the sea. You can enjoy the bench outside just to watch the world go by.
8. Kippers Corner
This end-terrace former fisherman’s cottage is located on Staithes’ High Street. Downstairs is an open-plan living area with a modern kitchen and wood burner.
The floor is tiled and all furnishings are comfortable. There are three bedrooms on two floors. Both doubles provide flexibility with additional day beds while one of them is en-suite with a shower room.
9. Waycot Cottage
Waycot is another renovated fisherman’s cottage in Staithes. The renovation has ensured it has retained its original character with a beamed ceiling and winding stairs.
The sitting room has a multi-fuel stove with a kitchenette for self-caterers. The accommodation is over 3 floors with a double bedroom, a further bedroom that can be double or twin on request and a bathroom with bath.
10. Benjamin’s Cottage
Benjamin’s is a mid-terrace cottage close to Staithes Harbour. It is two-bedroomed so ideal for a small family or group of friends. The sitting room has a wood burner with the dining area opposite.
The kitchen has everything guests might need for self-catering with the family bathroom with bath next door. On the first floor you will find a king-sized double bedroom to the front and a second double to the rear, overlooking the fields. There is also a courtyard outside to help you unwind after a long day exploring the North York Moors.
11. River Cottage
River Cottage is a semi-detached sandstone cottage in Dalehouse close to Staithes. The renovation provides a dining area with French windows leading to a decked courtyard, and a sitting room looking over the woods.
The bathroom includes a bath with a shower above. The kitchen is well-equipped while of the two bedrooms, one is a double and the second a twin.
12. Bramla Cottage
Bramla is in a narrow passageway, an 18th Century fisherman’s holiday cottage located just a few paces from the harbour beach. There is a comfortable sitting area with steps down into the kitchen, contemporary yet with the character of pine and quarry tiles.
The modern bathroom with bath and shower is on the first floor together with a double bedroom with sea views. Up another flight of stairs is the second bedroom, a twin.
13. Bulmers Cottage
Holiday cottages in Staithes don’t come much better than this stone end-terrace property, which has retained its charm after renovation. Beams and stone walls greet guests as they enter the open-plan living area which includes a multi-fuel stove.
There is a well-equipped kitchen and fold-up dining table. The two bedrooms are up the stairs, a double on the first floor and a further one in the eaves on the second floor. The bathroom has a bath and shower.
14. Deer Lodge
Deer Lodge has been refurbished in 2018 and is set at the bottom of a steep hill in a quiet part of the picturesque fishing village of Staithes. All of the rooms here are on a single level. It even features a small enclosed garden to the rear and an open plan living/dining room/kitchen and a fabulous multi-fuel burner. This is a lovely cottage for a really relaxing break.
Harbourside is a new holiday cottage in Staithes with fabulous sea views. his historic house built in the 16th century enjoys a prominent location and provides extremely spacious accommodation for family or group stays. Parking is available close by. Complete with 4 bedrooms, a kitchen with a dishwasher and a microwave, a flat-screen TV, a seating area and 2 bathrooms equipped with a shower. You will enjoy plenty of space here.
16. Host & Stay – Harbour Cottage
Harbour Cottage is a beautiful seaside cottage in Staithes. It boasts sea views and can sleep up to 4 people across its three floors. Harbour Cottage has been recently refurbished to a very high standard. This cottage is perfect for friends and families, with dogs also being more than welcome. This is the perfect place for a luxury getaway by the sea.
