Wendy’s Fast Food Takeaway in Whitby To Close After Just 19 Months

Rumours that have been circulating around Whitby in recent months appear to have been confirmed, as the town’s Wendy’s restaurant now looks to have permanently closed its doors.

The American fast-food chain has divided opinion since opening its doors and taking over a prominent spot at the end of Baxtergate, occupying the former site of Papa’s Fish and Chips. While the location is one of the most visible in the town centre, the venue has struggled to win over many locals since it first opened.

In recent days, visitors noticed the restaurant had stopped trading, with the building remaining closed during normal operating hours. Adding to the speculation, the venue’s listing on Google Maps now reads “Permanently Closed”, suggesting the restaurant may have quietly ceased operations after just 19 months.
