Did you know…
In 664, there was a deep divide in England's faith, with Celtic and Roman Christian religions in conflict. So, leaders gathered in Whitby Abbey to decide how to calculate the date of Easter.
This event was called the Synod of Whitby. Therefore, it seems fitting to celebrate Easter in Whitby! We hope you have a fantastic time in our favourite town this Easter bank holiday.
