1. Gianni's Italian Restaurant

The service is quick and efficient. Alessandro, the maitre'd, is an excellent host who advises on the best food and creates an enjoyable evening out with his fun personality.

The establishment's staff is known to be friendly and welcoming. For starters, we had a trio of bruschetta, which was delicious. The Calzone pizza and Diavola for our mains were also absolutely delicious, enormous, and full of flavour.

We imagine that most people living in the area have already been to Giannis, but if you are visiting Scarborough and enjoying Italian food, you must visit!

2. Il Piatto Italian Restaurant

Il Piatto Restaurant.

The restaurant prides itself on serving Genuine Italian Authenticity in every dish. It strives to match the flavours found in Italy as closely as possible. Additionally, the restaurant creates a welcoming and warm atmosphere that makes everyone feel at home.

We love that Il Piatto tries to be different from other Italian restaurants in the area. Its menu changes every three months to offer something new and exciting.

The shared veggie platter is a popular generous dish with many different flavours. The spinach and ricotta pasta is fantastic, made with fresh tomato sauce. The pizza is also great and pairs well with the lovely house wine. The make or break of any good Italian restaurant is the tiramisu, and the restaurant is proud to offer the best tiramisu around.

The waiters are friendly, chatty, and always ready to help. Drinks and desserts are reasonably priced, and even the coffee is fantastic. Anyone looking for an authentic Italian culinary experience should visit this restaurant.

3. Pomodoro Italian Restaurant & Pizzeria

Pizza making in Scarborough.

Pomodoro is a lovely Italian restaurant that was established in 2013 in the heart of Scarborough. Its rustic ambience makes it the perfect spot for a romantic dinner or a quick lunch break while shopping.

The menu showcases the freshest ingredients and traditional Italian dishes with a contemporary twist. Whether you prefer to eat in or take out, you can always expect friendly service and fresh food prepared daily.

In true Italian fashion, Pomodoro's menu offers a wide variety of dishes, including fresh seafood, when the quality is good. Additionally, the restaurant has an extensive evening menu.

We ordered the garlic mushrooms/bruschetta, belly pork special/pizza, pistachio cheesecake/tiramisu and coffee. The food was delicious, and the vegetables were cooked to perfection. The service was excellent, which made the experience even more enjoyable.

4. ASK Italian

Enjoy an Italian meal overlooking Scarborough Harbour at the Ask Italian restaurant on the waterfront. The outdoor terrace, which is part-covered and part-open, provides a calming setting that directly overlooks the water.

The restaurant's chefs handcraft a wide range of dishes from Theo Randall’s inspired menu using natural Italian ingredients and freshly sourced produce. They also offer free WiFi, making it easy to catch up on emails or have an informal business meeting over superb coffee, bread, and nibbles.

The restaurant is conveniently located near Scarborough Castle, the beach, and even the North Yorkshire Moors. So, after a day exploring the local sights, reward yourself with great Italian food.

5. Lanterna Restaurant

Lanterna Restaurant Decor.

La Lanterna Ristorante is a beloved institution in Yorkshire. It has occupied the same site on Queen Street for nearly four decades since it was purchased in 1997.

If you're looking for pizza, there may be a better place than La Lanterna. Instead, Giorgio's cuisine represents a refined and authentic version of northern Italian cucina from his native Piedmont, where comfort food reigns supreme. Think game, risotto, pasta, hazelnuts, chocolate, and the restaurant's speciality, truffles.

The food is incredible, bursting with flavour, and prepared by a chef who expertly sources the best ingredients and seasons them to perfection. You won't be disappointed if you order from the main menu or daily specials. Giorgio and Rachel, the owners, are warm and welcoming hosts, always friendly and hospitable without being intrusive.

6. Florios Pizzeria

Florios Italian Restaurant in Scarborough.

Antonio Floris, the founder, was born in Sardinia, Italy in 1956. His passion for cooking began at 7 when he started helping his mother in the kitchen. Little did he know that this would start a lifelong love affair with food.

Florios is a little gem. Their Italian cuisine is not only delicious but also great value for money. Watch for their happy hour specials (check their website for timings).

The service is quick, and the portions are generous. The bustling atmosphere is a testament to its popularity. We've been there a few times, and each time has been great.

7. For dessert, Crema e Cioccolato

For dessert, Crema e Cioccolato.

Step inside this charming coffee bar in Scarborough, and you'll feel like you've been transported 1,400 miles away to Italy. Everything here has a true Italian taste, from authentic Italian coffee to handmade gelato.

The service is exceptional, with friendly staff always ready for a chat. We enjoyed some delightful coffees here, paired with perfect cannoli that weren't too sweet. This place offers the best gelato I have ever tasted, all made in-house with high-quality ingredients.

You don't have to go far to experience the authentic taste of Italy. Scarborough offers numerous Italian restaurants, so the next time you're in the area, check out one of these fantastic restaurants and indulge in a mouth-watering Italian feast!
