1. The White Horse and Griffin

Built by Sir Hugh Cholmley in 1681, The White Horse & Griffin is a beloved pub that has served locals and visitors since 1681. It is one of the most interesting properties on the old East side of Whitby.

Although it was operated as an Inn until 1939. It continues to offer delicious food, drinks and accommodation to this day. The exposed timbers, stripped original panelling, restored cast fireplaces, decorative carpentry and plasterwork, quirky rooms and passageways all exude a rich history you can almost taste! This is a fantastic spot to warm up after a day exploring Whitby.

2. The Station Inn

We highly recommend The Station Inn in Whitby. Not only do they often have live music, but their drink selection is also fantastic. If you want to unwind, right by the cosy fireplace is the perfect spot. Plus, it’s conveniently located right across from Whitby train station. 3. The Granby

On the West Cliff, The Granby is a fantastic traditional pub. A warming fire, live music, and delicious homemade food complement the welcoming atmosphere. The pub also offers comfortable accommodation. This dog-friendly pub is popular with locals and even features a Bingo night; the choice of ales here is great, too.

We like that the Endeavour’s profile picture on Facebook is a roaring fireplace! The Endeavour has a warm and friendly atmosphere and is happy accommodating children and dogs. It’s an ideal spot for a quick pint and lunch. And if you’re a seafood lover, don’t miss out on their fantastic seafood platters!

The Elsinore is renowned for its live music acts.

Another of our favourites, The Stables, is a lovely country pub, located on the outskirts of Whitby. This pub and restaurant has welcoming log burners to keep you warm while you enjoy their delicious food and drinks. When you step inside the bar of The Stables, you’ll find yourself in a warm and welcoming place lined with trinkets and farming pieces that nod to the inn’s agricultural past.
