Whitby Brewery is the perfect place (especially on a sunny day) to enjoy beer, pizza, live music, and exceptional Abbey views. Here’s what we thought of Whitby Brewery.
Whitby’s exceptional Brewery produces some of the most delicious Yorkshire ales. Their Brewery is situated in the shadow of Whitby Abbey, perched atop one of Whitby’s iconic cliffs. They’ve gained an excellent reputation for their beer which can be found in many pubs, bars, restaurants, and shops in Whitby and North Yorkshire. Since moving into larger premises in 2016, they’ve been able to fulfil larger orders while still staying committed to small-batch innovation in brewing. So, we popped by on a sunny afternoon to rest our legs and enjoy a beer with a view.
Experimental Brewery
They moved the main Brewery to a new location near Whitby Abbey, allowing them to try new things. They plan on using the original brewing equipment at Larpool to create a range of small-batch experimental beers. They are excited about the possibilities and draw inspiration from the micro-breweries’ world.

Our visit to Whitby Brewery
First impressions were that we loved the outdoor bench and barrel seating at the Brewery so that you can enjoy your drink with a view underneath Whitby Abbey. The atmosphere here is relaxed, and the staff are friendly and knowledgeable. They’ll help you pick the perfect pint. If it’s not a beer you fancy, they have all the usual bar drinks (wine, cider, spirits, and soft drinks). They are dog friendly inside and out, so don’t worry about visiting with your pet. We loved the relaxed vibe and stayed for a few pints and a pizza before continuing to explore Whitby. We recommend stopping by if you are in the area.
Pizza
If you’re feeling hungry, they offer fresh hand-stretched to order, stone-baked pizza. We chose the Prosciutto pizza, which was delicious. There are vegan and vegetarian options, and all the pizzas can be extra spicy if preferred; just ask!
Tours
Take advantage of the chance to enjoy a Brewery tour and sample some of their finest ales! For just £15, you can purchase a ticket with three 1/3-pint tasters. Afterwards, you can enjoy these delicious drinks in the cosy bar. And don’t worry about leaving the kids at home – children under 18 can come as part of a family group and don’t need a ticket.
Summary
If you’re away from the area, check out their online shop for beer delivered to you. You can build your own beer pack, purchase beer by the bottle or can, and buy gifts, merch, and gift vouchers.
