One of our absolute guilty pleasures is a decent Wetherspoon. Whitby has a great one; The Angel Hotel is located right next to the harbour, so it's the perfect place to stop for an affordable drink, bite to eat or stay the night.

The Angel Hotel boasts breathtaking views of the River Esk. Recently refurbished with a multimillion-pound investment, this hotel offers 34 elegantly designed rooms and two levels of dining options, including a cosy indoor space and a charming beer garden for guests to enjoy.

Our first impressions were good; we popped in for a light lunch and a few drinks. (So, we could shamelessly use the Wifi and get some work done while resting our feet!) The staff were friendly, the restaurant and bar areas were clean, and there were plenty of seats. We have seen it get busy here, but plenty of space with upstairs seating is available. We used the app to purchase food and drinks, which arrived quickly. We had paninis and soft drinks, then opted for a refillable hot drink each afterwards while we finished working. It was a great break mid-way exploring the town.
Food and drinks
The menu features dishes ranging from classic pub fare, such as fish, chips, and burgers, to more international options, like curries and noodle bowls. Vegetarian and vegan options and a range of breakfast items served until noon are also available. In addition to food, Wetherspoon also offers a selection of drinks, including ales, ciders, wines, and spirits.
There are often seasonal and local options and a rotating selection of guest ales from various breweries. The prices for food and drinks are reasonable, making it a popular destination for those looking for a budget-friendly night out.
The Angel Hotel
The Angel Hotel is just a 5-minute walk from the beach. The hotel boasts a terrace with stunning harbour views, and guests can enjoy a delicious meal at the restaurant or grab a drink at the bar. A 24-hour front desk is also available for guests' convenience. Each guest room features a flat-screen TV, an en-suite bathroom, and tea/coffee-making facilities, with a hairdryer provided. The hotel is centrally located, just a short walk to many of towns attractions. Free Wifi is available throughout.
Overall, Wetherspoon offers a laid-back atmosphere and a wide selection of food and drinks at affordable prices. For the prices, we can't fault the service, views, and food quality.
