Situated on Green Lane, Folly Gardens is probably the closest campsite to Whitby centre, just a few minute’s walk into the town. The camping and caravanning facilities are open from March 1st to October 31st each year. They feature a shower block with five wet rooms, a washing-up station and a refuse point. Broadings Farm, Whitby

Broadings Farm gets fantastic reviews, just 10 minutes from the centre and 3 km from Sandsend. They welcome visitors in campervans, but they do not allow tents of any kind, even trailer tents, popup and utility tents, pup tents and folding campers, due to the ever-changing weather and hilltop location. They allow awnings but must be attached to the vehicle and supported by guy ropes. Access to water is available onsite; there are also waste points and a drive-over motorhome grey-waste water facility. Two toilet and shower blocks are accessible 24 hours a day, and many more onsite facilities are available. Check for availability here.

Sandfield House Farm, Whitby

- Sea view pitches.
Located on the outskirts of North Yorkshire, close to the Cleveland Way and a short walk from Whitby town centre and Sandsend. Pitches offer electric hook up and boast sea views. This is a friendly and welcoming park. Dogs are welcome here but must be kept on leads at all times except when on the dog walking field. Facilities on-site include free hot showers, toilets and a laundry room. Guests can use a playing field, and full-size tennis court rackets and balls are provided; ask at reception. Abbey Farm Showfield, Whitby
- A basic site, no electric hook up or showers.
- Open for a very limited time a year, only open 4 weekends a year.
- Fantastic location near to the centre of Whitby.

Regarding location in Whitby, you can’t get a closer campsite than Abbey Farm Showfield. Set on a working farm overlooking Whitby and the North Sea, just a quick walk into Whitby town. This campsite has no electric hook-ups or showers, but it does have a small toilet block and waste water points. The laid-back atmosphere on site is perfect for guests who want nothing more than to leave the stress of modern life behind. This site offers an excellent location for walking routes; you might enjoy setting out on the Cleveland Way, a 109-mile route joining Helmsley and Filey not far from the site. A short drive from Whitby

Farsyde Farm, Robin Hoods Bay
- Basic site, no electric. Has toilets and a washing-up area.
- Just one mile from Robin Hood’s Bay.
- Walking distance from the Cleveland Way to Whitby.
Just one mile from Robin Hood’s Bay beach, this campsite is just a short walk from the town and beach. This is a great place to make your base and explore this part of the North Yorkshire Coastline. The peaceful Farsyde Farm is surrounded by the coast and countryside, perfect for walking, mountain biking or following family trails locally. There are basic facilities on site, including toilets, a tap and a dishwashing area. Those who have horses in your flock will be happy to find they’re welcome, too, as the site has a riding school. Haugh Rigg Farm, Pickering
- Plenty of amenities, including a toilet and shower block, a washing machine, and slides and swings for the kids. Electric hook up available.
- Small farm with no passing traffic, great for children.
- A few minutes from the North Yorkshire Moors Railway.
Fancy staying a little outside of Whitby? Haugh Rigg Farm is set in a peaceful spot at the end of a small track with no passing traffic surrounded by superb countryside. There are so many walking and biking routes very nearby. Starter packs with wood offcuts, small logs, kindling and firelighters for firepits and barbecues are available to buy on arrival. A rural retreat with fantastic access to walking routes and exploring the North York Moors. This peaceful hideaway is located in the village of Keldholme with the River Dove on one side and open countryside all around. Firepits are provided for each pitch, and bags of wood can be bought on-site. This is a great place to stay, enjoy time outdoors and connect to nature.
